Privacy Policy

How information is handled by the website and software-license service.

Last updated:

DataPreflight processes comparison files locally. License activation sends the details described below; comparison files are not uploaded.

1. Publisher and contact

This DataPreflight website is published by hydrangea. For privacy questions or requests, use the email address on our Contact page.

2. Browsing this website

This is a static information site. It has no account registration, contact forms, advertising scripts or file-upload features. The site's own code does not set cookies or use browser storage.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand website traffic and page performance. A JavaScript beacon sends page-view and performance information to Cloudflare. Available reports include page paths, referring websites, countries, device types, browsers and operating systems. We use these reports to improve the website and assess how people find it, not to track the contents of files compared with DataPreflight.

Cloudflare states that Web Analytics does not track individual end users across its customers' websites. Measurement can be incomplete or sampled and does not establish that a visitor downloaded, ran or purchased the software. See Cloudflare's Web Analytics documentation for details.

The website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process network information such as IP addresses and request information to deliver and protect the site and receive analytics requests. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

3. Email inquiries

If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to respond, manage the inquiry and address related privacy or operational requests.

Messages pass through the email services used by you and the recipient. Please send only the information needed for your question. Do not send confidential datasets, passwords, full license keys or payment-card details.

4. Retention and disclosure

Inquiry and license records are retained as needed to operate the service, handle support and refunds, resolve disputes or meet record-keeping requirements. No fixed deletion period is currently set for every record type.

We do not sell inquiry information or use it for advertising. Information may be processed by hosting and email providers to deliver their services, or disclosed when required by law. Those providers may process information in countries other than your own.

5. Your requests

You can contact us to request access to, correction of or deletion of personal information you have provided, or to raise a privacy concern. We may need enough information to verify that the request concerns you. Requests will be handled subject to applicable law and necessary record retention.

6. Desktop software, licenses and purchases

Comparison files stay on your computer and are not uploaded for processing. The software does not send comparison telemetry. A user-initiated Standard license claim sends the Lemon Squeezy license key, checkout email address and machine code over HTTPS to our Cloudflare Worker. The Worker sends the license key to Lemon Squeezy for validation and checks the returned order, product and email details.

For license claims, our Cloudflare D1 database stores a SHA-256 hash of the license key, the machine code (a hash derived on your device), the order ID, the signed license record and its creation time. It does not store the plaintext license key or checkout email. For request limits, it stores a salted hash derived from the request IP address and a time bucket. Cloudflare may also process request data in its service logs.

Paid checkout, payment and initial license-key delivery are handled by Lemon Squeezy. We do not collect payment-card details on this website. See Lemon Squeezy’s Privacy Policy for its processing.

7. Changes

We may update this policy as the website or product becomes available. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes to active services will be explained when they are introduced.
